Aiden Jacob is here!!

All about Aiden:

Sadly he is a month old now before I finally have the chance to post this! Life has been fast moving as expected!! Aiden is the most amazing baby and we are totally crazy about him!! As we speak he is on my lap staring around the room with his big beautiful blue eyes! (which I am hoping stay!)We had our one month check-up yesterday. He now weighs 10 lbs 13 ounces and is 23 1/2 inches!! My boy is gonna be tttaaaalllll like his daddy! He is on a night time routine, at least Jake and I like to think so. He takes a bath with daddy about 8:30-9pm, then we snuggle and I feed him. After that I rock him till he is asleep and we put him down. Recently he has been sleeping till about 2-2:30, getting up and eating and then back down till around 6. Not too shabby if you ask me and I am hoping this is a sign that he is on his way to sleeping through the night soon! Maybe I just totally jinxed it though!

Mommy update:

All things considered I am doing awesome! I was really bummed for a while that I ended up having to have an emergency c-section but all that matters is that he is here safety. According to my Dr I had an "abnormally fast recovery" because the day after I was up walking around. Don't get me wrong I was still in an insane amount of pain but I knew that if I sat around my recovery would take that much longer. At my two week check-up she was shocked how good I had healed. To be totally honest, the scar is kind of cool. It's amazing that they got Aiden out of there because the incision is pretty small. Breastfeeding is nothing like I thought it would be. I don't know what I was expecting but I really enjoy it. Aiden is much more calm and relaxed after I breastfeed him rather then giving him a bottle.

Aiden's birth story:

I went in on July 20th at 9 am for my induction. We finally got situated and a little after 10am they placed the cytotec to soften my cervix. They then told me they would check me in a few hours. I was hooked up to the monitors and I starting having contractions. I couldn’t really feel them just tightening. Aiden was dealing with them really well at this point. They came and checked me sometime after 1pm and I didn’t have much change but since my contractions were happening so close and so frequently they decided that they would not give me another round of cytotec. At this point they decided to just monitor me and see if I made any progression. That’s when Aiden started hating labor. His heart rate was fluctuating but nothing too major when I was on my back so they told me to make sure I lie on my side. At this point I was still only 2 cm dilated. Aiden’s heart rate kept acting funky and fluctuating between 150-88 and it was scaring me. The nurses hooked me up to an IV and had me wear and oxygen mask. I knew that he was having trouble and they just told me that he did not like the contractions or the labor. At 6pm my Dr came on call and broke my water. After this the contractions got REALLY intense and because I was not in actual labor at the time I was having them every 30-45 seconds and they were not letting up AT ALL. I was in so much pain. I would have been fine if they would have been coming every few minutes but I was not getting a break between them and they were intense. Finally the nurses asked me if I wanted an epi because they knew I had to be in pain just from watching my screen. The epi was AMAZING and I truly did want to kiss my anesthesiologist. I kept hearing the nurses say that my labor was “problematic” and my dr was “very aware of the situation.” I knew something was going on and asked them about his heart rate. She finally told me that if he didn’t start to regulate that they might have to do a c-section. Finally my Dr. came in and talked to us. What we feared was going to happen, had to. She gave me the option of starting pitocen to see if it would kick start my labor BUT if Aiden’s heart rate kept up the same they would have to do a section. She gave me the options and told me to talk to Jake about it and decide. She also told us that it was her gut feeling that we should get him out soon because the pitocen can be hard on babies and if he was already not reacting well she was worried how he would react to the pitocen. After talking it over, we decided that his health is our number one priority and we should go ahead with the section. I was terrified, I always pictured having a normal delivery and now everything had changed. However, as I was lying there watching Aiden’s heart rate jump up and down I knew we had made the right decision. I didn’t want something bad to happen just because I wanted a different delivery. About an hour later they came in and wheeled me off to surgery. I was so scared but everyone was so awesome and Jake was right there with me. It didn’t take them long and before I realized what had happened I heard the most amazing sound in the world. I instantly broke into tears and told Jake to go make sure he was okay! Okay he was, 9 lbs even and 22 ½ inches long with a head full of beautiful hair. I could not have been more in love....

Final day of pregnancy!

Well, I am being induced tomorrow morning at 9am. The little guy is just stubborn and not wanting to make his appearance. We were all SO sure that he was going to come early, guess he had other plans! It's really scary to think that by sometimes tomorrow I am going to be a mother. (providing he isn't TOO stubborn) Jake decided that it would be better to take the whole day off. He was going to go to work but we both decided that this is not something he should miss regardless of the fact that we are probably just going to be sitting there ALL day.

I am actually really sad. I know that might sound crazy and I am SO excited to meet our little man but it's really bittersweet to think that my first pregnancy is over. No more feeling the little guy squirm around, no more rubbing my belly and no more excuses to not suck in my stomach! ;)

That is something that I am NOT looking forward to. My post-pregnancy body. I am terrified of what I am going to look like and I think I am going to be counting the days until my Dr gives me medical release to start working out again. I am determined!!

Anyways, this pregnancy has gone pretty smooth. Aside from the MONTHS of morning sickness (week 6-20ish) and the oh so lovable stretch marks, I have loved being pregnant!! Here are a few progression pictures, it's really amazing to see how much I am grown in these 9 months! Wish me luck! The next time I post, I will hopefully be updating on a healthy and awesome delivery! *fingers crossed*

The final stretch...

Well as of tomorrow I am officially 38 weeks...

Officially going to be a mother...

Officially responsible for another life...

Officially TERRIFIED!

I am so excited, nervous, terrified and overwhelmed that I don't know quite what to do with myself. Thanks to our awesome friends and family we literally have EVERYTHING besides a digital camera for Aiden. All his clothes are washed, the bassinet is set up all we need now is the little guy to make his appearance. I have run it over in my head a thousand times of how I think he is going to show up. Will he be late, early, on time? Will my water break? There is so much running through my mind I'm surprised I get anything done anymore! Thankfully I am on summer break from school or I would be failing all my classes I am so distracted! Speaking of classes, those start back up in August which should be a real challenge raising a newborn and focusing on college. I can do it though!! :)

I am terrible at keeping up with this thing and am sure it will get even worse when he is here. I just hope that everything goes well! Here are a few pictures of my belly as of now! I am still keeping my bump progression pictures up to date. It's so strange to see how much I have grown over the past 9 months.

I realized that I have not really talked about Jake much in this blog. He has been my number one support system through this whole thing and I have no idea what I would do without him. I know that's how it is supposed to be, but from past experience, it doesn't always work like that. He has kept me calm and kept the stress at bay. He has been working two jobs to support our little family and I hope he realizes how much I appreciate him. He is going to be an amazing father and I am so excited to see him with Aiden! I love you babe!

p.s...as I type this, my little man has the hiccups! :) He gets so angry when he has them and rolls around like crazy! I love it!

Growth scan update :)

Well we had our growth scan on Tuesday and I'm not going to lie, it scared me a little. When I think babies I think tiny little cuddly babies, but it looks like ours is going to be a monster! haha His legs alone are already measuring 9 inches and his "little" feet at 3 1/2! She guessed that he will be at least 23 inches at birth! His weight at this point won't be too extreme as he should be about high 8 to low 9 lbs. I am crossing my fingers for the 8 lbs! :) He already has a little bit of hair and we could see it on the ultrasound! He was being so stubborn and hiding his face! He is still head down which is awesome and according to my Dr he shouldn't flip back over. :)

It's starting to get so hot here, it's 101 today and it's only going to get worse. The days are dragging and I am stuck in the house! Jake has been working long nasty hours! He has a job interview tomorrow at his uncle's company so keep your fingers crossed that he can get this job! The salary increase, benefits and hours would be fabulous!!!

I am trying to get everything ready for the little guy but it is so hard having to wait till after my second shower to get the rest of the items we need. Oh well! We both really thought about it and except for a few little things if he were to come today (which we are praying wouldn't happen!) we would be pretty ready for him. If he wants to come a few weeks early that would be fine with me, the less time during the summer I have to be pregnant the better! :) As long as he stays in there till at least 37 weeks! :)

Well, here are some pictures from the ultrasound, we have a little chunky monkey in there!!! His cheeks looks so fat I love it! In one of the pictures its really hard to make out his face because his umbilical cord was in the way.

Until the next time..... :)

33 week update!

Well I am officially 33 weeks as of midnight. Our little man is doing awesome and is a CRAZY child! He moves around pretty much all day now, it still absolutely blows my mind.

Baby shower #1 was so much fun! We got a lot of awesome stuff! There is only a small list of stuff that we still need before he gets here. My next shower isn't until I am 37 weeks, that should be interesting. I am going to be HUGE but it's okay. :)

We have our growth ultrasound on Tuesday so we'll get to see our little man and they will hopefully have a good idea of what his birth weight is going to be. I am crossing my fingers it won't be anything over 9 lbs! (Wishful thinking according to everyone) I am so excited to see him, it's been forever and I'm so anxious to see how different he looks. Well I will update again after we have our ultrasound on Tuesday!

Here are some pictures from the baby shower :)

31 weeks and counting!

A lot of pictures!! The last one I just took a little bit ago. He has been rolling around so much and I have never caught a picture, until now! It just blows my mind to think about how big he is getting. I have my next appointment on Tuesday and i'm going to be scheduling my next ultrasound!! I'm so excited to see him. I realized the other day that I haven't seen him since I was 19 weeks and we were just find out that he was a HE! :)

My sister and I made a diaper cake for my showers. It turned out SO cute, we still have a few finishing touches to make to it but I love it and I'm not going to want to take it apart. I can't believe how much some people pay for those things! Speaking of baby showers, my first one is next weekend and I am so excited about it!!

It's getting so overwhelming to think about how soon he is going to be here. I can't believe that in two months I am going to be holding him. I say it all the time but it's just so surreal. This pregnancy has FLOWN by and I don't think I am quite ready for it to be over. I mean I was MISERABLE the first few months but now I love it. I am really going to miss feeling him roll around all day.

29 weeks!!

Well today officially makes me 29 weeks!! I can't believe that in a little over 2 months my little man will be here. It's so scary to think about.

A little update, I had my Dr's appointment Friday, everything looks awesome, only gained 2 pounds!! I was SURE I had gained about 20 because of how big my stomach is getting but nope! My fundal height is 30cm now, big boy!! I have my growth scan around 33 weeks to check my little man and see how he's doing. Since we think he is going be big, she said depending on how he looks at the growth scan we might have to do another one closer to birth. Which I would not mind, I LOVE seeing him!! :)I also had the nasty glucose test! It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be (I got fruit punch as an option) but near the end of the drink it got pretty nasty. Considering I had food poisoning a few days before and was not feeling totally back to normal yet, it wasn't sitting right. I am just hoping I passed because I don't know how I would live through the 3 hour!!

He is not the size of a squash according to the baby websites! He sure feels bigger because I am getting kicked and punched every other minute! I love watching him move around in there, it's so crazy to see. It still doesn't feel quite real that I have a baby growing inside me. I know that sounds so stupid because I sure look like I am smugging a beach ball under my shirt but it's just such a mind blowing situation!!

I went shopping last weekend with my Aunt and Grandma, they have been so awesome and are THRILLED about having a new little baby to spoil! They bought him an Eddie Bauer car seat and stroller combo and I am in love with it!! Then my Aunt called me yesterday and said "Your grandma and I are out shopping again...." haha This little guy is going to be S-P-O-I-L-E-D thats for sure! She wants to go shopping next weekend with my sister and I again, she cracks me up!!

Well it's 8am on a Sunday and I can't fall back asleep. The "uncomfortable" is starting to set in and I find myself really annoyed at times, totally expected though. I need to take a picture of my 29 week belly but i'll do it later! My tattoo hasn't really done anything yet, knock on wood, I am hoping that it doesn't stretch too much in the next 10 weeks, its held out awesome this far!! I think I got it far enough on my side that its missing the stretching stomach! haha
